Good results for Conservatives in Epsom and Ewell in both local and European elections.
Thank you to all the voters who voted for us in the local and European elections whether last Thursday or by post.
We had five wards up for election last Thursday in the Epsom and Ewell Constituency area- three Mole Valley District Council seats in Ashtead and two Reigate and Banstead Borough Council seats in Nork and Tattenhams.
Although the Conservatives did not win any of these, all saw a significant reduction in the Independent/ Residents Association Party’s majority- with an average of just over 16.5% of the vote, when compared to the last time the wards were fought in 2012. This was a remarkable improvement in the Conservative performance and thanks undoubtedly to our excellent team of candidates and hard work by our volunteer team.
Additionally two of our members in Ashtead were elected as Councillors in the wards of Leatherhead North and South, the former winning a formerly Lib Dem seat. Congratulations to the new Councillors Howard Jones and Tim Ashton.

In the European elections the Conservatives again won the popular vote in the Epsom and Ewell Borough Council area, with 6,446 votes, or 32.5% of the vote. This was only a marginal decline in the share of the vote from the last European elections in 2009 and certainly a very good performance relative to the national trends.
UKIP come a closer second, largely at the expense of minor parties, Labour rose to third place and the Liberal Democrats fell to fourth.
