Ewell County Division incorporates Ewell, Stoneleigh and Nonsuch Borough Wards.
I live in Spring Court just next to Fitznells Manor and opposite Bourne Hall in Ewell Village. I grew up around the Nonsuch Court Estate and went to Sutton Grammar as a teenager. Spent a year as a teenager working for the local church St Paul's Howell Hill. I studied Physics and Philosophy at the University of Manchester and then moved around London before coming back to Ewell in 2020 to raise my first child due early 2021 and be closer to parents. I founded a small tech company (FreelyGive) with a friend from school and we have lasted for almost a decade working for a variety of charities and businesses building web-based databases. As a result, I am a nerd and extremely passionate about the video gaming community. Video gaming was at the heart of what started both me and Elon Musk down our respective paths... though he might be a little more successful than me.
Why I want to be a councillor
I care a great deal about Epsom and Ewell having had my roots around this area and hoping to raise a family, potentially going to similar churches and similar schools in the area. I love the schools in the area. I did a very brief stint of work experience after university, working as a physics teacher at Blenheim High School and thought the school was fantastic. I have heard so many good things from my friends growing up across all the schools in the area. So I would love to do anything I can to help support Ewell and help it grow into a place my children can enjoy.
I have also found that mental health has been an important topic raised recently in politics. It is a topic dear to my heart and I am currently attending courses in Counselling and therapy. Whilst mental health is bigger than any politicians can handle, I saw first-hand with my involvement in the local conservatives in Watford what a politician who cares about mental health can do, especially during a pandemic. Even if it is just a cheerleader or focal point in a local area helping those charities that are doing fantastic work already.
What I would like to prioritise if I became a councillor
I have seen some good work achieved by a local resident's group the Ewell Village for Change and the tremendous effort they have put into proposal 5 changes to local traffic in the village. I would l like to prioritise supporting improving the traffic around Ewell village whilst considering the needs for the local businesses and I would like to draw on my local entrepreneurial experience to help support the local high street. Across the country COVID-19 has been devastating, but for many a silver lining has been to connect with their local community again. I have heard countless stories of people connecting with neighbours like they have not before. It would be great to see Ewell Village a hub for the community and I believe local grassroots groups will be key to achieving this.
